You see, I was born and raised in Neg. Occ. (read: born in Silay City; raised in Kabankalan City and Sagay City; would probably die there too!) and no matter how long I stay away from my home province, I could never stop loving it. Yes, I am a Negrense-- a hiligaynon speaking Negrense-- and proud of it too!
And these are the things I love there:
♥Tubo- whew! I know, sugarcane can grow anywhere but I don't believe (and I know I am being bias here) they could be as sweet as the sugarcanes of Negros. The smell of freshly cut sugarcanes never fail to put me on nostalgia mode.
♥ Panaad sa Negros- The mother of all festivals of Negros Occidental. The gathering of 13 cities and 19 towns of the province. The most awaited festival of all (at least in Negros!).
♥ Masskara festival- who doesn't know about it? Raise your hand and I'll think you're an alien. One of the most publicized festivals in the country, Masskara festival mirrors Negrense's resilience in the face of adversity.
♥ Baye-baye sa Manapla- Oh yes! Delicious. An original delicacy of Manapla. Just so love it.
♥ Sinamak- aged vinegar mixed with spicies of all kinds. hmmmm...delicious! Masarap na sawsawan!!!
♥ Sinulog sa Kabankalan- Yes, Sinulog is not only found in Cebu. The celebration in Kabankalan is far from the religious celebration of Cebu. Sinulog in Kabankalan spells F-U-N times ten!
♥ Bailes de loces- the festival of lights in La Castellana.
♥ Mambukal Highland Resort- located in Murcia somewhere in Central Negros. Numerous falls, pools, natural beauty, and adrenaline-filled activities.
♥ Sipalay city and everything in it!- white sand beaches: check! Crystal Clear water: check! Pasaway festival: check! scuba diving, snorkeling adventures: check! check!check!check!
♥ The mountains of Negros- I always find the mountains mysterious and inviting and hiking through the mountains of Negros is something I would love to do. (Never able to do it that much). The mountains keep secrets---and NPAs too. hehehe. It goes with the territory. lols.
♥ and siyempre, yung bahay namin. FREE FOOD! FREE BOARD AND LODGING! FREE EVERYTHING!LOLS.
I may be going away someday to the place I had always dreamed of (read: Mindanao) but Negros will always be in my heart.
And so it is: this blog shall rest for awhile.
(sometime in the future: "what I love about Negros Oriental")
