Oh, Barbie?!

You mean, the fabulously anorexic doll?

There is one reason why I don't like barbie dolls, or any dolls for that matter: it makes one think that starving yourself is a must to be fabulous. Darn! That is of course aside from the fact that she happens to endorse the color pink which I hate above all else.

Young girls nowadays are so conscious of their bodies. As in, conscious in a negative way. Like, they can't live a day without once complaining how fat they are and how much they need to lose weight when they are not fat at all. This attitude, of course, comes from the media who always endorses the Barbie lifestyle of starving yourself to death just to achieve an image you think is sexy. I wonder what's so sexy with a skeleton?

I know some girls who would skip meals and snacks because they don't want to gain weight or get fat. I know of some girls who are so insecure of their bodies that they would sometimes starve themselves to get that model-like image they see in fashion magazines. What is disturbing is that, they are not fat at all. Or at least, if ever they are, their bodies can be considered "just right".

A lot of girls think that they need to have the body of a super model to get the attention of the man of their dreams. WRONG! I may not be the most romantically inclined person in the world but I do believe that if a person really loves you, he will look beyond your physical appearance.

I know of a lot of good looking guys who are with girls that are totally not physically compatible with them but they still showed these girls the kind of love that could really make you think that maybe, true love really does exist. Besides, I think men would prefer to have healthy girls than malnourished ones, right?

People say that it is easy for me to say this because I never had a problem with my weight or of fats; I never seem to gain weight nor collect fats no matter how much I eat. But well, I say, it doesn't really matter if your fat or thin because fat or thin, we all die in the end.

My only point is this, if you can't learn to accept your body then don't expect others to accept you. There is no need for you to starve yourself to death because malnourished never equates to sexy. Sometimes, in our attempt to fit in, we are destroying ourselves. And this is also what happens here. In your attempt to look fabulous, you end up destroying your body by taking slimming drugs, starving your self and excessive exercise.

I think being FIT is sexier than being anorexic. Eat healthfully. Exercise properly. And acquire a healthful lifestyle.

Barbie, is not exactly the epitome of beauty. A woman with self-confidence is, certainly, sexier and more beautiful than a plastic doll.
