they call this journalism.

After so many times of enduring the garbage I've been reading in a local newspaper, I decided to post a sample of it here. Kindly click the image to make it bigger.

This is just one of the reasons why I don't like reading these local weeklies. I don't buy one unless I am required to, because reading papers like this is a waste of time. =) I was able to get hold of this copy because the junior Mass Comm students were required to edit this newspaper and make a reaction copy of it.

There are a lot more (all in one issue) but the juniors cut them out for their class requirement. Thankfully they left these ones so I immediately scanned it and with the help of a little photoshop, i was able to produce this photo....

If I could get some of their copies, I would post the other articles here.

I am not being mean here you know. Its just that, if nobody points out their mistakes, they will never realize they are committing it. Besides, they have been in existence for how many years already and they proudly call themselves "veteran journalists" so it follows that they already know how to write a proper news lead as well as a proper news article.

But for years now, they have been oblivious to the fact that they have been feeding garbage to the people of this province and damaging the minds of their readers. Who would trust a newspaper like this? These are blatant errors that should have been noticed by the editors. Or do they even have editors? I wonder because reading the paper from cover to cover makes me think that those articles were not edited at all.

Our new writers in the publication writes better than that. =)
