Personally, I don't know if I do or I would. I still haven't made up my mind about the matter.
Filipinos are superstitious people. We believe in a lot of supernatural things and it has already been a part of our culture. Curses are among these beliefs.
Well, have you ever heard of "kadena" (chain)? It's when three or
more members of a family dies months apart from each other. The cause of death doesn't necessarily have to be horrible or mysterious, as long as the deaths happened within a year.
In our family, it always happens.
A lot of people seemed to think that our family (maternal side) is cursed. Many times it happened that members of our family would die barely months or even days apart from each other. More than two years ago it happened and it happened again this year.
They said that the curse can be prevented by tying a red ribbon or cloth on the doorway of the house. Others says that a ritual must be performed. I don't know. I am not even sure if I believe in the curse.
My cousin who is living in Arizona died last September and By November 1 a nephew of mine (son of my 2nd cousin) died also and on November 3 (barely two days) my Uncle died (Mama's brother). All died of natural causes though.
True or not, it still hurts that three members of our family has to die in one year and it is tragic enough to be considered a curse.
