There are a lot of things I love about the Sony Xperia. Likewise, there are a lot of things I love about my Sony Xperia Mini. I know it's not the best version of the series but it was good enough for me. At least if it works.
Sony Ericsson phones are really great when it comes to mobile phone photography. The quality of the photos can compete with that of a digital camera. That is the main thing that attracts me to the brand. The other features are also great of course. The Timescape, the music quality, the vividness of the images, the user-friendly interface, all these are really great.
Unfortunately, despite the fact that the brand alone symbolizes quality, this one fails to totally deliver. All the features it boasts are there and they are great but it would be really best if the phone itself works.
I bought this phone February 14 and barely days after I had to send it to the service center where it stayed for one month because it overheats and the applications force closes. That's even the least of it. You can't text because the option keep popping up and blinking on the screen and blocks the keypad. You can call because you can't even open the phonebook or even open the keypad to type the number. You can't change the settings because like all its other applications, it force closes. To top it all, you can't even shut down the phone because the option blinks away when you try to.
So I sent it back to the service center. A month after, Madame Xperia Valentine (my phone's name---silly, i know!) came home. It was great when I had her back. Peformance was great, all applications working well, everything felt perfect. But just probably to prove the point that nothing is perfect, our smooth flowing relationship lasted for over a month.
By end of April, it started again. At first it was easy to deal with although it was clearly stupid. The phone overheats even when not in use. It starts its blinking routine when the weather is too hot, but I could still manage to get it to work when the weather is nice and cool or I'm somewhere airconditioned for that matter. Silly but at least it was working.
By mid-May, i get to use it less and less because the blinking routine becomes more and more frequent and starts to really piss me off. By end of May, it called quits. Now, its not even opening any application. It's back to what it was before I sent it to the service center the first time.
Since the end of May, I haven't been able to use my phone. I can see the missed calls. I can see the messages received. Hell, i can read the messages received. BUT I CAN'T RESPOND TO IT, SEE WHO CALLED OR EVEN ANSWER THE CALL!
So, I have decided that I am going to send it back to the service center and probably write a love letter for whoever gets to fix her. A lengthy love letter detailing how I would kill him if this phone doesn't get fixed for good.
The thing is, this shouldn't be happening. They should not be sending sub-quality phones in the market. I paid for it and I should be able to use it. My other phone, a MyPhone I got for an awfully cheap price works far better than it. To think that my other phone has been through a lot and yet it's still working. On the other hand, this supposed high quality phone that I bought with my hard-earned money has been treated like a princess and it's acting exactly like what a spoiled brat would do.
I should really make these people pay for stressing me out like this. I would understand if the phone I bought is from an unknown brand for a really cheap price. I wouldn't be suprised if starts acting like a bitch if it was from those cheap brands but for a Sony Ericsson phone? What a letdown.
Fix your damn phones Sony! Meantime, I'm buying a new phone. And no, it's not Sony Ericsson!
