true, i will be working on Christmas eve as well as Christmas day and New Year too. practically the whole holiday actually. same as last year.
it's a bit sad really. imagine getting an irate caller on those holidays while the rest of the world are busy stuffing themselves, getting drunk and basically enjoying the season. it is sad because, being Filipino, we were brought up believing that these days should be spent with our families and for the past two years, i have been working on these days ( and all other days when the rest of my family are happily enjoying someone's birthday or something).
but on the plus side, it's not so bad because monetary-wise, it does include holiday pay which means a bigger payload by the next payday. great!
another thing, i already got what i wished for Christmas (not the car and the house and lot though but at least something). i should still be happy despite the fact that working during these holidays really suck.i should be happy because these days will fund my trip for January and in fact, i'm planning to just go ahead and offer to go on OT.
there are a lot of things i should be thankful for and these things are enough to alleviate the longing to spend another Christmas with my family. but thinking about it, i realized it will not make much of a difference anyway even if we are complete on Christmas. you know, just another typical dysfunctional family. so yeah, i'd prefer to work on Christmas and New Year, it will be much less depressing.
