... and she's gone.

one of my closest friends when i was in the elementary died and i only found out in facebook. i am not sure when she died exactly but what i do know is that, it makes me so sad.

it has been a long time since i saw her. in fact, i can't remember when i last saw her. we were so close when we were in the elementary. we go to school together. we were often seat mates and spend break times together.

though it was almost a decade now since i last saw her, i still can't stop myself from crying. this one hits close to home and it is painful. she is the first closest friend i lost and although i have lost loved ones before, i haven't lost any of my closest friends.

in times like these, i find myself wishing everything is a dream. i find myself thinking that maybe i was wrong, we were wrong and that one of these days we will see her again. sometimes i wish death is not real, that its something we can wish not to happen to those we love.

but death, like life, is very real. it's irrevocable and indiscriminate. it happens to anybody regardless of stature or wealth. nobody can defy death. nobody can hide from it.

and death has taken my friend. the friend i haven't seen for a long time. the friend that i was hoping to see again sometime in the future. the friend that i can no longer hug or talk to or laugh with. and all i have left now are the memories; the stinging pain in my heart and the longing.

but i guess it is better that i did not see her in her last days so I could preserve the memory of her 12 year old self. and in my heart i will always remember her as the 12 year old Develyn, healthy and happy...the friend that i will no longer see.

May God keep you in His arms.
You will not be forgotten.
I love you.
