Sinking BoatI did not have any plans of posting anything today because I haven't been feeling well since this morning. However, as I was browsing the Phillipine Daily Inquirer website I came across this article and I was tempted to write something about it.

There is another video scandal that the re-electionists in the Senate, or officials of other responsible government agencies, should investigate. We do not mean to belittle the trauma that victims of once-private sex videos now released on the Internet suffer; there are many more of them than appear on the Hayden Kho videos. But the other video scandal involves both moral lassitude and government negligence; where is the outrage?
We mean the videos that passengers on two other Mindoro-bound boats took on Saturday, May 23, when the ill-fated, overloaded motorized outrigger boat MB Commando 6 capsized off Verde Island. Twelve people died, including three young children. With the survivors still in the water, with other passengers still unaccounted for, two boats passed by the scene of the accident.
“I was hoping they would give us help by throwing life vests but they took pictures, they took videos,” Ramon Eugenio, father of a 3-year-old boy who perished in the accident, told the Inquirer. Read More.
I was particularly disturbed by this statement, “I was hoping they would give us help by throwing life vests but they took pictures, they took videos.” The fact that lives were lost because of the incident was bad enough, to know that such indifference could happen is truly disturbing.
If I interpret the article right, nobody among the onlookers helped the passengers of the MB Commando 6 as they try to float in the water and instead, the people whose boat happen to pass by the area merely took videos and photos of them. Is it outrageous or what? I mean, its bad enough that you did not help them (and maybe you can't) but to take a video of them while in that state? Could you have at least show some sense of decorum?
