my thoughts on marriage.

What comes to your mind when you hear the word "marriage"?

first of all, let me stress that the following are my thoughts at this point in time. like a lot of things in this world, it is subject to change.

in all honesty, i am not interested in the idea of marriage. it probably sounds hypocrite but, i never really imagined myself as a bride or a wife. in fact, in my age, i have no plans whatsoever of getting married.

is it because i am single and haven't really found someone who i want to share the rest of my life with? probably. that is why i want to emphasize that my thoughts are subject to change.

but most especially, i don't think of marriage as something really great. for me, marriage is a binding contract that only death can release. it is somehow equivalent to life imprisonment.

i see the end of my happy years with marriage. when i get married, i can no longer go wherever i want to go or do whatever i want to do with my life. i can no longer just pack my bags and go somewhere when the mood suits me. i will lose my freedom. i will lose myself.

at least that's what i think. of course, someday it may change. someday, someone might come and change my mind.someday, i might be persuaded to sign the contract. but for now, i'll stay as away as far from that as possible.

sorry parents, guess you won't see any grandkids in the future.
